Mission Statement

Norwich Regional Adult Education is dedicated to the service and growth of each student and committed to the belief that all students may achieve success.

About Norwich Regional Adult Education

  • Norwich Regional Adult Education (NRAE) is a cooperative adult education program administered by the Norwich Board of Education in cooperation with area Boards of Education.
  • NRAE serves the residents of the school districts of Norwich, Bozrah, East Lyme, Franklin, Ledyard, Lisbon, North Stonington, Preston, Salem, Sprague, Stonington, and Voluntown.
  • NRAE provides academic programs, family education, job training, workplace education, enrichment classes, language, counseling and assessment services.
  • More than 500 students are enrolled each year!

You Can:

  • Earn a high school diploma in 3 ways
  1. Earn a Adult High School Credit Diploma
  2. Earn a GED® 
  3. Earn a National External Diploma
  • Study English for Speakers of Other Languages
  • Prepare to become a U.S. Citizen

Our academic programs are offered to residents of Norwich and the 11 surrounding school districts that comprise the Norwich Regional Adult Education Cooperative. It is supported by local Boards of Education, as well as state and federal grants. These classes to improve basic skills, learn to speak English, or earn a high school diploma are free of charge to the residents of Norwich and Cooperative towns.

Information

  • Norwich Regional Adult Education provides state-mandated programs in addition to workforce preparation training and continuing education classes.
  • All Adult Education classes are available to adults from Norwich and Cooperative school districts who are age 17 or older and no longer enrolled in public school.
  • Please go to the Pre-Registration tab to pre-register.

Interpreter Services

For Interpreter Services Call Norwich Public Schools: 1-833-341-0878 

Do you need an interpreter to communicate with the school or district? The Solution is Here! Norwich Public Schools is providing interpretation services through Language Line Solutions, for families to use when calling into a school or office in the district. This option is only available to speakers of Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cantonese, Mandarin and Portuguese.

The 2024-2025 school year is off to an exciting start here at Norwich Regional Adult Education, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to introduce myself as the Director of Adult Education! I’m Dr. John Glover, and with 24 years of experience across various educational settings, I’m eager to work alongside you and help our program soar to even greater heights.

Now is the perfect time to take that exciting step into the classroom and focus on your personal or professional growth. At NRAE, we offer an incredible range of programs, including ESOL, GED, CDP, NEDP, family education, job training, workplace education, enrichment classes, language programs, counseling, and assessment services. Whether your goal is to earn a high school diploma, boost your career prospects, learn English, or even become a U.S. citizen, NRAE is here to support you every step of the way!

Each year, over 500 students join us from Norwich, Bozrah, East Lyme, Franklin, Ledyard, Lisbon, North Stonington, Preston, Salem, Sprague, Stonington, Voluntown, and beyond. Our programs are offered at our main campus on 191 Hickory St. in Norwich, as well as at East Lyme High School, Stonington High School, and various other community locations.
